A Place for Every Celebration
Sawyer Farms’ racehorse rescue began with a single act of compassion. When a Kentucky-bred horse suffered a career-ending injury at the New Orleans Fairgrounds, he was set to be euthanized—discarded simply because he could no longer race. Instead, we stepped in, giving him the care and space he needed to heal. That one rescue turned into a mission, and over the years, we’ve provided a safe haven for more than 20 retired racehorses.
Why We Rescue
Many racehorses face uncertain futures once their careers end—some are abandoned, neglected, or even put down when they’re no longer profitable. At Sawyer Farms, we believe these incredible animals deserve better. Our rescue program gives retired racehorses a second chance, providing them with proper care, rehabilitation, and a permanent home where they can live comfortably. By offering them 300 acres to roam and large, well-maintained stalls for rest, we ensure they receive the dignity and quality of life they deserve.

Future Goals
We plan to build a larger barn to rescue more horses and provide even better care. With donor support, we can expand our efforts and continue giving retired racehorses a second chance.
